Horse Sale Highlights

September 2012 issue

Diamond-McNabb

The 4th Annual Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horse Sale was held June 2, 2012, at the Powderhorn Ranch near Douglas , WY . On-site attendance was approximately 475 people, with about 110 additional people on the live telephone call hosted by Tomahawk foreman Doug Moore and more than 700 people watching online via DVAuction. Horses were sold to buyers from 27 American states, plus two provinces of Canada .

The Diamond-McNabb Ranch Horses combine the training expertise of Ken McNabb and the miles and hours required to successfully run Diamond cattle operations to produce top quality ranch horses ready for any career. McNabb’s “natural horsemanship” training methods work with the horse’s natural inclination to learn by reward rather than coercion. McNabb’s methods produce willing partners for many different riding techniques.

The high-selling horse was Spoonful of Gin (“Shane”), a 2005 AQHA chestnut gelding, sired by Hes A Peptospoonful by Peptoboonsmal and out of a Doc O Lena granddaughter. He could compete in non-pro cutting and ranch sorting events, and had been roped on extensively. He displayed a great disposition and high level of common sense, and sold for $35,000.
