Valley Girls Barrel Daze Pays Out $155,000

     The 33rd Annual Valley Girls Barrel Racing Association’s Barrel Daze competition was held April 8-10, 2011, at the fairgrounds in Walla Walla , WA . The VGBRA has been promoting barrel racing in the Walla Walla Valley for 49 years and is the fifth largest barrel futurity in the nation. This year saw the biggest event ever with 1,423 runs, a payout of $155,800 and $10,000 in Awards.

     Friday night started the action with the ATK Ammunition Saddle Sweepstakes with 79 entries. The Champion was Vauna Walker of Pingree , ID , who won $868, in addition to the saddle. The Reserve Champion was Courtney Frazier of Touchet , WA , who won $737 plus the horse blanket sponsored by Les Schwab.

     The Futurity was the weekend’s feature event. The Futurity had a total of 97 entries and paid out $40,299, plus awards.

     Danyelle Campbell of Beaumont , CA , won the first round for $2,686; Vauna Walker won the second round for $2,686; and Danyelle Campbell won the average and was awarded the Don Johnson Trailer Sales saddle.

     Futurity payouts on the Stallion Incentive bonus money totaled $24,999. Winners were: Danyelle Campbell, who won $1,666 for the first round; Vauna Walker, who won $1,416 for the second round; Danyelle Campbell also won the average for $1,666, plus the VGBRA saddle. Add in $3,149 for the 2D portion, and the Futurity payouts totaled $69,951.

     The Maturity had 50 entries and paid out a total of $11,000, plus an additional $5,600 for the Stallion Incentive portion, for a grand total of $16,600.

     Winners were: Cindy Lane of Prescott , WA , won $843 in round one; Viki Friedrich of Salkum , WA , won $843 in round two; Cindy Lane won the average, and was awarded the Trails West Trailers saddle.

     A total of 18 little Pee Wee racers won $460 over two days. The Open 4D had over 1,000 runs and paid out $50,700.
