Broussard Family Establishes

Rebecca Broussard International

Developing Rider Grant

June 2011 issue

An unprecedented $250,000 fund has been established with the United States Equestrian Association (USEA) Endowment Trust that will, over the next five years, offer an annual $50,000 training and competition grant to developing riders who are successfully competing at the advanced level.

The Rebecca Broussard International Developing Rider Grant is bestowed by the Broussard Family in memory of Rebecca “Becky” Broussard who passed away on December 24, 2010, and is the fulfillment of her desire to help riders achieve the goal of representing the U.S. in international team competition.

The grant was announced in Lexington , Kentucky at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event by Chairman of the USEA Endowment Trust, Kyra King Stuart. She was joined by Rebecca’s husband, Jerome, and her daughter, Sarah Broussard Kelly.

“This grant has such a far-reaching impact on the future of Eventing,” said Stuart. “Becky was one of those rare individuals who always saw the bigger picture of our sport. This grant is the culmination of her vision as it ensures the development of our next generation of riders and the growth of our sport for years to come.”

“My mother believed in helping riders not only at the top level, but at all levels,” said Sarah Broussard Kelly. “She wanted to see the U.S. at the top of Eventing and believed that this was only possible by support and education of the nation’s best riders.

“It is only fitting that part of this grant will go towards travel grants to help riders compete at The Event at Rebecca Farm, which she developed to be a platform for riders to move onward to international competition. By creating this grant, we hope to help riders achieve their goals and allow my mother’s vision for the future of Eventing to become a reality.”

Rebecca Farm now begins the equestrian season with a full slate of shows and clinics leading up to The Event at Rebecca Farm, July 21-24, 2011, celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer.

June 4-5 features Dressage at Rebecca Farm, with additional Hunter/Jumper shows occurring July 9-10 and September 10-11.

The first clinic of the season opens with the June 18-19 Bobby Costello Clinic. Costello rode for the United States in the PanAm Games at Fair in 2003 where he won the team Gold Medal.

July 2-3 features the Leslie Law Clinic. Law is the individual Olympic champion and team silver medalist in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
