Automated Solar Powered Hay Feeders

August 2010 Issue

Horse owners who worry about missing their equines’ feeding times because of a work or travel schedule, can now have peace of mind with the Automatic Horse Feeder manufactured by Green Diamond Fabricating.

The Automatic Horse Feeders are available in both two- and four-horse models, and will reliably feed your horses at any time and in any weather.

A solar-powered, electric winch slowly and safely slides the doors up and down on each side of the feed rack. A 5-watt solar panel charges aa 12-volt car battery that powers the motor. For non-solar applications, an optional 12-volt trickle charger keeps the battery strong.

The feeder may be programmed for up to 10 feedings per day, and multiple feeding times each day are a much more natural and healthy way for horses to eat. Shorter feeding times eliminate overeating, and horses don’t get nervous and pace while waiting for you at feeding time. They remain relaxed, knowing that doors will open at exact times.

Benefits of timed feedings also include less waste of hay, plus less of the horse owner’s time and effort to lug hay.

The two-horse model holds about three bales of hay; and the four-horse model holds about eight bales of hay. Load the feeder a couple of times a week, set the timer and forget about it.

The next rainy or frigid morning, just sit back with another cup of coffee at your kitchen window and watch your automatic feeder take care of your horse feeding chores!

Green Diamond Fabricating is located in Florence , Montana . For more information, call 406-273-2151 or visit www.hayhorsefeeders.com.
