Horse Sale Highlights

July 2010 Issue

Headwaters Livestock Early Summer Select Catalog Sale

The Headwaters Livestock Early Summer Select Catalog Sale was held June 12, 2010 at the Headwaters Livestock Auction facility in Three Forks, MT. The weather was cool, but didn’t rain, and the sale ring was indoors.

The sale offered a selection of started to well-broke geldings and mares. The auctioneers were Jack McGuiness and Garth Isbell.

The high-selling horse was Do Poco Tivo Dude, a 2004 dun quarter horse gelding consigned by Larry Gaustad of Belgrade , MT. The big, stout dun had been ridden extensively on the ranch and in the mountains, and had been used to drag calves to the fire. He sold for $3,100 to Ed Brainard of Belgrade , MT.

The second high-selling horse was Roscoe, a 2001 black grade gelding consigned by Blaze Simonson of Shepherd, MT. This “gentle giant” had been ridden in parades and used to move cattle. He sold to Peter Noreen of Belgrade , MT , for $2,300.

The average on the top five horses/geldings was $1,890.

The next Headwaters Livestock Catalog Sale will be held September 11, 2010. The facility offers a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.

To consign horses and for more information, contact sale managers, Dean and Wendy Briggs at 406-565-2681; or visit www.headwaterslivestock.com.
